MATCH REPORT


MATCH REPORT : St Helens were without Jones, Parsons and Constance who were on duty SwanseaBut Jimmy Stott and Llewellyn returned to the side. Dewsbury were without their captain,Royal, for whom Williams deputised.

St. Helens took up the attack very early and Street crossed for a try. Tommy Stott failed with the kick. One minute later Pollard raced down the wing and passed to Lewis who crossed for Dewsbury. Kelly converted. Next, Llewellyn and Jimmy Stott passed and reposed from half way and Llewellyn scored in the corner. A solo run by Honeysent Jimmy Stott racing for the line only to be thwarted by the Dewsbury defence. Kelly landed a penalty goal for Dewsbury and Cowling of Dewsbury made a brilliant run side-stepping several players from St. Helens only to be tackled short of the try line.

Honey broke through for the Saints and dummied the defence and passed to Jimmy Stott who scored under the posts. Tommy Stott converted the try. Pollard the Dewsbury wingman made a good run down the wing but was tackled. Soon after Blakemore the ST. Helens hooker chased down a loose ball and scored an unconverted try.

In the final quarter of the match St. helens ran away with the contest thanks to tries from Ball, Honey and Greenall with Tommy Stott landing two further co=versions.
