Just hearing that Steve sadly passed away this morning.

As a Wigan fan, I wanted to come on here an express my sadness at Steve's passing. A true legend, not only on the field but as a man. To battle on through such an awful disease for so long is a credit to Steve's character and will.

He'll be deeply missed by everyone in the RL family.

Absolutely gutted. The words legend and hero are often overused but Steve really is both of those things. What he has achieved is incredible.

Sad sad news. I was told this morning but hoped it wasn't true.

I'm absolutely devastated by the news of Prekkie's passing. His fight against cancer was inspirational and will continue through the Steve Prescott Foundation. He was a hero and a legend. The rugby league community is in mourning today. RIP Prekkie, thank you and God bless.

What an inspiration to everybody the bloke was and should always be. To fight the way he has whilst always thinking of others and raising the money he has for charity is simply amazing. He will always be a hero to everyone involved in the game of rugby league.

RIP.

It certainly puts everything into perspective when someone like Steve leaves us, a great guy and a true hero. RIP Steve

Just seen this on the virtual terrace too. A sad day, but I'm glad that he will get a huge tribute from the England and Hull Fans today.
My thoughts are with his family and all those who were privileged to know him personally.

I only ever saw him on the Rugby field or during charity events but he was an inspiration for many and will continue to be so.
