Rumours on Facebook we're signing James Mendeika, a full back from Fev.
Seems to work as a bit of a reshuffle - Lowes doesn't seem to rate Shaw at Full Back (and he is not the best under a high ball/as last line of defence), and Mullaney IMO is a better option at half back than Addy. Obviously this is all rumours!

Definitely a signing being announced according to Bulls on Facebook. On the blurred out piccie it looks like someone with a Bruce Forsyth long chin or a beard....

Well would match the blurred photo the Bulls have just released (Tattoo on right arm) Not overly enthused if true. Don't think our back have done too badly.

I didn't think Sammut had that sort of tattoo. I can't spot it on any images unless I'm missing something?

Shaw has been decidedly dodgy for me at fullback. He's clearly just there because we don't have anyone else. His defence has been poor at times, and it seems every week he drops an easy bomb under no pressure.

I'll be very happy to sign a different one to cover Mullaney, although I don't know how good or bad Mendeika is.

He means the tattoo matches James Mendeika.

Edit: I've just looked on his wiki page and that has him down as having played 21 games for Fev since he joined them, scoring 21 tries in the process! Is that correct? One hell of a strike rate if true.

I think I may start another thread then! There's no question in my mind that the blurry chap is James Mendeika.

It may be that Jimmy feels Mullaney can do a better job than Danny Addy at half? If so it makes some sort of sense to bring in a more dependable defender to release Mullaney from FB. Of course, we don't really know how long Siejka is going to be out, and maybe it's a bit late now, but I agree about Shaw at fullback.

Not sure why everyone thinks he's a fullback - he plays centre for Fev I think. Their squad details certainly list him as a centre.

Perhaps so yeah. It certainly showed for me that Jimmy didn't want Shaw at fullback unless it was his only choice, when Mullaney came back and he went to fullback, leaving Addy at 7, rather than moving Addy back into the pack. I thought at the time that it was less about Addy playing well at 7 than it was about getting a stronger fullback in place. With Mullaney injured again, Jimmy signing a fullback just reinforces that theory.

Shaw is a good squad player and an excellent goal kicker. But is he good enough to be in the 17 when everyone's fit? Nowhere near IMO.

Mendeika came through Warrington's academy unless I'm mistaken and was quite highly touted, before playing at Swinton and Fev. Not sure I've ever seen him play to make a call on whether I'd rate him or not though. I know he spent some time at centre though.

He has played more Centre than Fullback, but I believe he was at fullback for his 1 or 2 games he's played this year.
