| WHAT the hell is this knob talking about? the guy has been using "boxing analogies for The Pies V KR game.
talking about it being like ten, eight minute, rounds and Wigan are ahead after the first eight minute rounds, and Wigan are "punching harder etc, etc, etc.
I really wonder what goes on in his head. He has also started pronouncing his "ings" and "esses" at the end of his sentences like he's been taking elocution lessons. Now Phil aint a bad looking fella: but does anyone remember a couple of years ago when he appeared with his hair side- parted and slicked down?
He looked like a window- licker that still lives at home with his "Mam" and went train spotting as his highlight of the week.
Come on Phil for the game's sake: Just stick to the basics.

| It's like he's desperate to be THE media man...
...but he's seriously lost the plot, and comes over as a pie-biased freak who's ever increasing commentary dementia makes him look like the RL equivalent of a Spitting image puppet.

| What will Phil's analogy be this week?
[u Phil Clarke's Analogy Highlights Of The Week [/u- (In Harry Hill's 'TV highlight of the week' tune)
"Wigan will be approaching this match like a 26 mile olympic marathon runner where every 10 minute period equates to 3.25 miles of the race to Old Trafford"
"Do you know, when a mountaneer solves a difficult mathematical equation, he invariably has to concentrate for twelve rounds. That's exactly what Huddersfield have got to do to beat Saints tonight."

| Just watchin Boots n All The tries, and in the 2nd half Stevo accuses Hudds of
"completely losing the plot slightly"
....... How do you do that ?
As much as I appreciate all the RL action Sky provide, the commentators and analysts are pretty poor. I used to like Phil Clarke, but he's now almost as silly as Mike Stephenson.

| Got to agree, JJ.
Stevo used to be the one you could rely on to make the gaffs, but he has become the most 'normal' out of the lot. Wiggy just winds me up and Phil 'Media Guru' Clarke has become a legend in his own lunchtime. He couldn't speak less sh_ite if his face was replaced with a giant puckering sphincter...

| Outside of the commentary, Stevo seems well spoken and a fairly intelligent guy. His analysis once the game is over seems a lot better than what he actually says during the game (usually limited to the same phrases every week like "He. Will. Be. Furious", "Expect the chip over the top" and "Surely he'll take the one-pointer"icon_wink.gif.
It seems like when he commentates, something takes over him. Whether it's because he simply gets over-excited and he talks a bit of rubbish in the heat of the moment, I don't know.
Phil Clarke's become a caricature of a statto. I've never heard anyome come out with as many useless stats as he does.

I spotted the Stevo Colemanball and it made me laugh a lot. he does drive me mad with the amount of nonsense he talks. Agree about Clarke too - he used to be really good but seems to have completely lost the plot slightly himself recently

| They are all (exception being Eddie, who was a sports journalist for The Liverpool Echo, but I don't dislike him either) very credible RL fellas. I love big Barrie, but I sometimes think that "Tez" is very serious about his commentary, (but to be fair he is always spot on), but that doesn't mean it's bad because it's not.
I like "Stevo" though, being a Penrith Panthers fan, I'm well aware of how (certainly in years gone by : which was hard to make an impression as a Pom) much he contributed to the days when The Panthers were fairly new in Oz RL, and most of the time he's pretty near the mark.
Phil Clarke, strikes me as a really nice lad, but for goodness sake Phil, stick to your roots and don't change the way you were as a player and GB manager: you don't have to.
P.S. I suppose I might try to "clean up my act" too, if I'd almost ripped Matthew Ridge's nuts' off in a NZ v GB Test match as Phil did. ( much reported in The Southern hemisphere).
P.P.S. Thinking about it, maybe he's ok after all.

Trust me its harder than you think commentating, its very easy to get over excited and talk a bit of rubbish when somthing special is happening, better to suffer from a bit of verbal diarrea than clam up and be lost for words imo.
Been there, done that and proudly wear the t-shirt
I think the sky commentry is ok, they try and jazz it up to build the atmosphere.
