| It definately looks a very useful squad, very youthful, very hungry lets hope with a years extra experience in superleague our younger players of last year can bring on the new youth to simular levels they achieved

| Anyone know anything about the contracts of the players I've got in bold at the moment. I'm assuming that they're all pretty much here next season so either they've signed new ones or I was just wrong about the years....?

Im not, if someone could work out the average age of that squad, Alker, Littler and Talau are the only over 30's in the squad
Which could work in our favour, The rest are young hungry players with point to prove, And alot of them have been discarded by other Clubs and will want to repay our faith. And if it works then other youngsters from other clubs will see our club as a place where youth will be given its oppertunity
With them all being young their experiance will be limited yes, but fitness will be on our side, Youth has proven that they play with no fear so big away games we wont see as different from others they will hopefully relish the occasion lets just hope they are told to play like we know they can at times during the last campaign

I agree totally, lots of people getting all negative about our transfer dealing, players who are youthful have uaually not achieved anything in the game, we at salford city reds are giving them the chance to perform at the highest level with others who are in the simular position, surrounded by legends in the game like alan hunte and shaun mcrae passing on their knowledge who knows where we can go
Add to the fact the stadium is coming with the majority of the squad young and hungry we could in theory in 5 years be competing at the very top level week in week out.
all we need is a hero, somebody to take us to that next level, he might be already here he might be on his way we shall wait and see

I see the only problem being we don't have a leader on the park besides Alker, with Paul gone and now that time is taking it's toll on Mal we face the prospect of having periods of the game when we have no leader on the park, for me we need a old head second row in the Cartwright/Panapa mold to come on, steady the ship and use nowse as much as brute force.

I know what you mean MR, we have never replaced clinch or dunnerman in that department, that leader or hero is the only thing we are lacking imo.
Its ok havin the likes of alker and parker who will run his blood to water and swain and adamson who will tackle and drive it in till they cant walk anymore, the difference is having someone when the chips are down and its all or nothing on that play :
1) makes the right decition underpressure, how many times does a half break petterout because the ball carrier looks the wrong way, loses it underpressure in a tackle or runs back into a tackle rather than away.
2) has the ability to eather deliver the right ball, collect that pass to send him over to win us the game or make that tackle which swings the momentum of the game back in our favour, it seems to me when the pressure is on the basics are forced because some of our players doesnt believe in their own ability, i have one thing to say about that your a professional rugby player who at one point in your career delt with that pressure thats why you became professional unlike the rest of us who didnt because you are good at what you do.
ive said it before we have a few players who when switched on takes us to the next level, we dont have the money to buy a hero so we need one who is already here to go and stay at that next level.

Exactly, we need a focal point with that bit of class to snatch the numerous narrow margin defeats and turn them into draws or wins.
Sorry but we have an overseas spot still available i'd look to Australia for someone who's looking for one last year or maybe two to come over and offer that, be they a scrum half, stand off or may be a ball playing second rower.
For me someone who could have played the last 20/25 minutes of a game who has the ability to create havock has just signed for Bradford in Sculthorpe, may not be everyones cup of char but you know he is the best ball playing prop in SL and a very gifted player.
