We're only spending the money RU gave us for Joel Tomkins.

It's nice that we've had the luxury to be able to 'choose' the players we want rather then just pick around any scraps that are available on free transfers when it's come to replacing the guys that have left.

Some will say we're not as strong and short term I agree but things could have been a whole heap worse had Ian Lenagan not been prepared to spend this cash. We've signed players with the future in mind.

All that money was reported as income in the 2011 accounts (in fact without it the accounts would have shown a loss).

The money spent on Green, Smith and Taylor will be split in the accounts over the duration of their contracts. It will be interesting to see how much it totals, i'd imagine all the Tomkins money plus some will have been spent.

If I remember correctly we didn't get it all in one lump some anyway. The payments were staggered over 2/3 seasons. I may have made that up though.

We also need to get the arguments about just what his contract really said out of the way for two years down the line. It's two years plus a third in the clubs favour OK !!!!

I don't think he will be provided people don't think he is instantly going to be the next Andy Farrell.

If he is viewed as a player for the future which at 21 he should be then there should be no silly expectations and we can all be pleasantly surprised if he does as well as Dudson for example.

The players who should hit the ground running are the experienced players we sign who need to delivery quickly, like Lauaki (who IMO hasn't improved from being average at Hull).
