How does that mentality and rationale work?

Fair play to him. If all players at all the other clubs don't have this belief then it says more about them not him.

He's not playing with a full deck. We all know that and many love that about him. Is he serious? Who knows with that fella but one thing is for sure-it doesn't make us all arrogant and I'm convinced 99.9% of Wigan's fans know just how tough it will be to reach the Grand Final (as it has been to reach the last three).

I would imagine that players at certain SL sides do all have this belief that they will make ALL of the major finals each season
But to come out and Guarantee that your side will actually make the GF is not something that sensible players/coaches would say,so imo i think that Gelling is on a hiding to nothing and that his club won't be too happy either with him
