Looking over the last few years of Agar's reign despite people saying how undiscplined etc. we are we dont individually score that badly on the obvious things such as cards, missed tackles, errors and penalties.

Appearances is also quite striking showing how unsettled the team has been under Agar for injuries.

What I dont understand though is why we are individually so low on metres gained and carried? The only people in the last few years who have showed up on that front are Moto Tony, Jamie Thackery and Danny Tickle. I remember Motu taking the ball up well from full back but what are we missing on this front? Isnt this just something an individual player can achieve without coaching or being told to do it? Even in the combined totals we never finish that high up.

Actually I think you will see the major part of the message quite clearly was why we dont individually carry and make yards. I dont actually see any real opinions in a question? I guess I did mention the injuries. Lets see how quickly you can blame all or most of the stats on Agar being "thick". On the other hand as you boycott the games and rely on what you listen to on the radio and second hand on here to form your opinions you are more than welcome to give it a miss.

In the modern era where the likes of Maguire and Brown have changed SL by adding so much to this part of players' games, you suggest our lads should just know what to do without any coaching or prompting at all.

Strange you've mentioned those two coaches as Huddersfield didn't have 1 forward in the top 25 of metres gained last year and Wigan only had 2 (1 a second rowers).

I haven't confused anything, my point was that in the modern game 'taking the ball up' is as much about getting a quick play the ball as it is about gaining meters. For 'Pookie' to come on here and put forward the idea that no coaching should be required for a player to be able to do either successfully shows a huge lack of knowledge and understanding about the game.

But he wasn't talking about quick play the balls, it was metres gained he was alluding to, the two go hand in hand, you could get 5 very quick play the balls and make 10 metres. I don't think anyone needs coaching how to run the ball in hard. It's something you either do or you don't.

All I'll say is that while a coach like Tony Smith is winning things left, right and centre by paying so much attention to detail that he even coaches his players on what position their hands should be in when they catch the ball, the suggestion that 'taking the ball up' is something that doesn't require coaching doesn't wash with me one little bit.

Maybe we should start petitioning for Garry Brindley as our next coach?
