Chris Gerard has signed for Leigh Centurians,your thoughts please

Cracking young player IMO with a lot of potential. Had the odd surge to throw the wonder ball but he worked very hard for the team and in a few games (Inc NRC final 2010) took it upon himself (at 20/21) to drag the team up.

Only the assault (?) charge etc stalled his career.

A steady player with good defence, I would say this is his level and he was very committed in a Widnes shirt but lost his way last year. Meant to be a bit of a nutter of the pitch but was always controlled on it. Loose forward is probably his best position.


He will do well for Leigh.


Signing all the Widnes rejects

Getting seriously worried about the prospect of opposition fans chanting "are you Widnes in disguise?" at us next season. Hopefully the response will be "we can't be Widnes...we're winning!"

You lot playing at home next year will be the closest we've been to winning at LSV. Bad Times.

He lacks pace but agree defence good and a strong lad.Will be best at loosefwd as not creative enough for halfback.

Must admit I was surprised there wasn't a suggestion of playing a friendly against us so that your new SL squad can bounce us all over the place and end the hoodoo

Decent defence but too much of a jack of all trades and master of none position wise.

I agree, Chris. He just didn't seem to really fit in at any position. He just doesn't have the bulk for a forward or the pace for the backs. I would say that his best position was at loose. He was a bit inconstant too. He had some poor games and some absolute belters. It's a pity that he didn't have a kicking game. That could have made up for it, as it did with Ianson.

I think, if he gets a regular starting place in a particular position, and with better coaching than he received at Widnes, he could be a very handy Championship player.

I echo the above. He will not be setting the world alight but he could be a handy player if given the time to develop. Best of luck to him at Leigh, hope you have a good season.

I thought he could have went far had he got the game time at loose. Very natural player.
