| I guess the GB team's Davis Cup victory yesterday means that the Rhinos won't win the SPOTY Team of the Year award.

| No, and quite rightly too - but hopefully they should get a nomination.

Why quite rightly? The tennis will win but dressing that up as a TEAM effort is ridiculous.

| I suspect that if the Davis cup "team" has snatched the award from anyone, it will be the English womens' football team.
I don't think Fury's opinions on homosexuality and drugs in sport will have endeared him to the folk that matter where this award's concerned either.
Haven't watched SPOTY in years, not since it was the only means of reviewing the year's highlights. Comes under the heading of w*nkfest for me, I'm afraid.

| Don't give a s##t about the BBC back slapping awards it's not like winning the treble was a qualifying competition.the tennis will win but a doubles and 2 singles games involving 4 players is hardly a team sport is it.

I think they'll have to include him if it's not too late (announced tonight on the One Show I believe) and then it's up to the public to vote.
Lewis Hamilton will be in their again along with Andy Murray. From cricket Joe Root had a very good year and Chris Froome won again. Add in the usual batch of athletics/gymnasts/swimmers and even though he's had a rubbish season I wouldn't be surprised if Wayne Rooney was included solely because of breaking the England goal scoring record.
If the England's Women's football team I wouldn't mind. Granted compared to the tennis they didn't win but at least it was a team performance. The tennis it was 90% Andy Murray and who did he beat throughout the competition? Guys ranked at best in the mid teens not a patch on the likes of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal who didn't play when their countries were eliminated....he's basically won a trophy for best attendance.

They also beat the French, Australia & America on the way to the final.
The first time G.B. have won it since 1936!
But hey give it to Leeds after all, what they have achieved this season, won’t be seen in the sport for another eighty years.

Adam Peaty was a triple world champion this year, but most people will have to google him.
RL isn't alone in it's lack of recognition.

Unlike the Davis cup winners whose feat won't be equalled for, ooh, at a guess 12 months.

| I'm ok with The Davis Cup team winning it, although it was pretty much a one man show it is a historic moment that is unlikely to be achieved again for GB for many, many years.Like others, i just hope we get a good mention for our own piece of unique history.
Also, Murray or Fury for the individual award, imo.
