He was absolutely spot on. Not just in this game either far too often a ball is thrown away and the ref just guesses and gives anything.

The washbrooke one was awful tonight, saying that JjB did very similar but got penalised.

He's one of 12 people in the game who can actually do anything about it but he doesn't seem to be from the way his team play

There's a lot more than 12! Try all coaches and players!

This has made me laugh on so many levels.

Firstly the fact McDermott is getting stick for saying what the supporters have been for ages,
The fact He's moaning about the ptb-when teams (inc Leeds) are coached to wrestle is a bit rich.
The refs are getting stick when they constantly blow for penalties, then getting stick when they don't blow.

How about coaches and players stick to playing the game as it was supposed to be played instead of getting small gains by bending the rules- then the refs would have a simpler job to do-be able to referee the game well, and everyone would be happy- so over to you McDermott!!!

The slow PTB was introduced by Huddersfield and Wigan many years ago and the game slowed down enabling the RFL to say the game is more competitive now.
We have a similar thing with the "Rhino Ball", proving difficult to grip on the impact tackle or passing under pressure, the RFL don't seem too bothered about it, maybe they are happy to have stop start games.
Add in the referee below par performance and the players time wasting and we have a game with very little intensity and excitement.

It'll be interesting to see how SL interpretations impact on England's performance in the WC. Our players will be used to a much slower and more untidy PTB. We will struggle if an NRL ref decides to speed things up in the WC.

He's right of course, but fails to note the irony that he is in fact, part of the problem.

Anyway, that was a terrible game - and it wasn't Mr Child's fault.

I reckon the two coaches must have had words before the Sky interviews as Radford walked right past him when he finished, no look or handshake. Poor game, I thought the RFL were experimenting with new rules allowing forward passes.

It just seems to me that when a video ref is being used the actual officiating of the game goes to pot.
Game plans tend work around areas the video ref has no control over.

Saying that,no video ref last night and that would have been a different score line.

He is spot on. I hope he includes his team as well though?

He did in his post match press conference on the Leeds site, which only highlights the problem more that a coach can be this fed up with this element of the game but readily accepts his team do it too. All teams do it, some coaches are ok with that, others would probably rather not but it's a necessary evil in today's game, if you don't do these things can you compete?
