That weekend is the Liverpool marathon. Multiple road closures and transport issues, plus the capacity of Merseyside police to run a city-centre marathon and Magic Weekend (as well as maintain order in Liverpool generally) would be challenged.

Couldn’t be avoided could it seen as they were going on last years league placings. Considering everybody is saying we’re rubbish now and will be for years then what’s the problem as surely we should then get a lower team to face???

So because it`s the Liverpool marathon that weekend it means that it will be in Newcastle? I am sure there are other options on the table outside of those two.

No, this has been done so that no team plays each other at both Magic and in the loop system.

Yes and it’s a good system to use going forward to avoid any confusion and avoids playing a team 4 times in the regular season

2nd vs 4th
5th vs 7th
6th vs 8th
9th vs 11th
10 vs 12th

Loop games
Odd number placed finish vs all Even placed finishes and visa verses
1st vs 2nd-4th-6th-8th-10-12th
2nd vs 1st-3rd-5th-7th-9th-11th
Etc.

So if you finish 7th for example in 2019 then you already know your 2020 fixtures will be loop fixtures vs 2nd-4th-6th-8th-10th-12th and you’ll be playing 5th at Magic.

Gives you as fair and balanced set of loop fixtures as possible when setting the fixtures in November and in theory gives you closely matched Magic games. Always the potential for a mismatch come May but again you don’t know that until the time. Take the Leeds/London game away then the other 5 look like close tricky to call games AT THE MOMENT, I bet come May at least one will look one sided heading into the weekend with form at the time.
