Peel have submitted a planning application for a huge 4 storey, "non food bulk retail" unit on the land between the East stand, the canal and the motorway which includes 1000 car park spaces (a proper car park on the current gravel/mud one)

The tennant isn't named but the plans look like an IKEA to me.

Will this improve access and parking on matchdays?

Looking at the plans it certainly will improve access and make the random parking more ordered with 1000 more marked parking bays and another exit; not sure how charging for parking would work though? The retail unit has a footprint nearly the size of the stadium and 4 storeys high (part of why I guess IKEA), but they won't want parking charged.

Looking at the other plots, it's pretty obvious a Drive Thru fast food place will take at least one, which is all good for match day experience.

We are going to be able to park in their parking area which will presumably be quiet on a Sunday ?

Any time I have went to an ikea on a Sat or Sun it has been packed, which is sort of my point. The plans show a 1000 place car park, where the current gravel car park is, with an added exit, but how could they police or regulate who parks there?

Plans are due to be considered before 1st Dec and whatever may happen with parking, it would finish a large part of the wasteland around the stadium and improve the profile of the AJBell.

I can't. My iPhone opens the document page but won't open the actual plans which open in a pop up as a PDF.

I also struggled to get it to open in MSN Edge, but it worked for me in Firefox on a tablet.

It is worth the effort though to see the plans. Quite exciting and great for the club and fan experience.

You'd expect an Ikea (if it is) to be very busy on a Sunday, so more traffic in the area. Will this force us into Friday nights in future?
