In association football do the middle section of teams who won't get into European places and have no worries about relegation have 38 dead rubbers a season?

There's a lot to play for: making a good show of ourselves, not finishing 8th, getting younger lads used to playing in the first team, getting Sandow settled in...

We need to use a good end to this season even if we're not getting into the Play-offs. I don't think a single one of genuinely believed we were going to get to Old Trafford this season anyway and I've never really been confident about even getting into the top four.

We aren't good enough. We aren't failing, despite not playing well. We're comfortably the 6th/7th best team in this competition and that's where we'll finish.

None good enough anymore for Warrington and three not good enough for super league. Atkins tries but just doesn't have the brain for a centre and his athleticism is no longer enough to cover up for that.

Add in more here. The only guys with any merit tonight are Sims, Hill, Myler and Penny (for effort, not skill)

I'd argue that at the minute they are far from dead rubbers. Win all five games and will probably finish in the top four. Problem is winning all five games - it simply isn't going to happen.

The only way I would go to another game this season now is if smith resigns and Michael Monaghan is made first team coach.
