| I was over the moon with last night, outstanding performance. However I was equally appalled by our last outing at Widnes which was embarrassing. If we are to challenge then we must narrow this gap between our best and worst performances which is something Gentle alluded to when he came in. Without a greater level of consistency we won't achieve success.
We shouldn't need to play so badly to motivate us to play well.

| Couldn't agree more.
Just goes to show how much difference attitude makes. We played with a similar attitude at Rovers, shows up in the line speed and aggression in defence.
It begs the question, does our team have more variations in attitude game to game than other sides? You would think it does, however I also wonder whether our chronic lack of a top player/leader at half back makes a big difference. Players like Briers and Sinfield can steer the ship even when the crew are not on top of their game, thus smoothing over the variations in attitude.

| Despite a 70-6 win, we can improve on last night's performance.
Should be a comfortable win next weekend as long as we avoid complacency but then we need to peak in the playoffs.

| Agreed. There are definitely facets of our game that have improved a lot under Gentle e.g. Our intensity to keep going last night, even when the match was clearly won. Also, there are plenty of players who have improved under Gentle; Sharp, Houghton, Westerman etc.. To me, there is enough to suggest that he will be the coach to take us to success.
Moving back to the consistency, issue hopefully this will be aided by the players we bring in, not to bring our old coaches back into the equation, but their mentality/coaching methods will have left a lasting impression on players.
This was always going to be a transitional year, and while it is disappointing that with a little bit more 'consistency' we could have really pushed for a top 4 spot, it does leave encouragement for the future.

I personally think fitness plays a big part in what many will perceive as the team's attitude. I didn't think their attitude was too bad against Widnes - the players clearly wanted to win, our mentality was questionable though - easily influenced by niggly ref calls and niggly Widnes players, but this could be down to fatigue as much as anything.
2 weeks rest did them the world of good.

| Also another thing is our offloading. Everytime we use this tactic we look a better attacking side. More please.

| As good as last night was, if we want to be a top team we've got to cut out the amount of weeks where we just don't turn up (like the Widnes game) I appreciate that no team can play in top gear each week, but we need to find a 4th/3rd gear that gets us the points against lower table opposition.

Was saying just last night how a few seasons ago, someone would offload and everyone just looked confused and let the ball go to ground
This season everyone expects it and it really is one of the strengths of how we play - shows the difference a coach can make

I agree, I really hate those games where we use the 'turn inside and run at the markers' tactic, which I feel is completely ineffective. The idea is that you wear the opposition out, but usually it means that we put in an inept attacking display and then lose the game at the end.

| We haven't got the quality of player to be consistent. Hopefully next season we will. Most teams in SL are capable of turning it on infrequently but the best ones do it more and, more improtantly, do it when it matters

| We'll get more consistent as the quality of the squad improves. It's the biggest thing for us to improve on to reach the top. With regard to playing an open game we do look better when we do it provided that we go forward first. We tried loads of offloads against Widnes but didn't look too hot in that game.
